Original Sokos Hotel Puijonsarvi is a welcoming and cosy hotel right in the centre of Kuopio. Itula’s ItuGraf radiant ceiling heating and cooling systems were installed in the hotel rooms. Guests can adjust the room temperature with an easy-to-use control system.

- Puijonsarvi, owned by Osuuskauppa PeeÄssä, is a historic hotel with long traditions. We are part of the Sokos Hotels chain, says Elina Äijänen, Hotel Manager at Original Sokos Hotel Puijonsarvi.

Energy efficient and eco-friendly solution

In 2013, the technology in the whole hotel was upgraded, and it was the perfect time to bring the heating and cooling systems in the rooms up to date. The hotel management wanted to find a functional and easy-to-use solution and selected Itula’s Finnish-made ItuGraf radiant ceiling heating and cooling system. Factors such as Itula being a Finnish company and the system’s energy efficiency helped them to make the decision.

- Hotel guests are typically quick to give a lot of feedback on the rooms’ air conditioning. We wanted a system that would be easy for our guests to use. Our aim is to receive less feedback on this issue, says Äijänen.

- Itula offered the best product. Radiant ceiling panels are visually more pleasing than other similar solutions. In addition, ItuGraf panels are more silent and dust-free than other options. The heat is distributed evenly in the room, and there is no draught.

- We participate in the Green Key environmental programme. The hotel adheres to the principles of energy efficiency and eco-friendliness in all its activities. ItuGraf supports our hotel’s environmentally-friendly values, emphasises Äijänen.

“The panels have worked really well, and we are happy with our choice”

Puijonsarvi has a total of 300 rooms, 250 of which are equipped with ItuGraf panels. Overall, the solution is very cost-effective. Panel maintenance is easy because there are no wearable parts.

- Guests don’t even notice the system in the room. The panels are stylish, and they are decorated with a string of LED lights. They go well with the interior, and guests can adjust the room temperature easily. The control system reacts quickly to reach the required temperature, Äijänen sums up the system’s benefits.

- The panels have worked really well, and we are happy with our choice. I would particularly recommend them to hotels, as they are so user-friendly.
